Money Management International Named Coaching Connection in LifeCents Government Shutdown Initiative

LifeCents joining Money Management International to help consumers recovering from the government shutdown

Washington D.C., February 25, 2019 – LifeCents, a financial wellness company, today announced the company has selected Money Management International (MMI), the largest nonprofit provider of financial counseling in the United States, as a featured counseling partner for the company’s initiative to support consumers affected by the government shutdown. The initiative, which runs until March 4, 2019, provides all federal workers and those affected by the shutdown with free access to the LifeCents financial wellness app. While consumers typically access LifeCents through an affiliate client or partner, such as an employer or financial services company, the company is making an exception for individuals affected by the shutdown in an effort to help consumers bounce back to financial stability.

Users that sign up for LifeCents during the government shutdown initiative will receive a free one-on-one financial coaching session through MMI. During the private 45-minute session, each participant will work with their coach to establish financial goals, create a budget, and with the individual’s approval, review their credit report. Additionally, through MMI’s own furlough recovery initiative, the organization is also waiving set-up fees for those in need of long-term debt management assistance post-shutdown and referring clients to other available resources throughout the country.

“MMI has long been a leader in helping people successfully navigate their financial and economic challenges so we are thrilled to have their support behind our initiative to help those affected by the government shutdown,” said Blake Allison, Founder and CEO of LifeCents. “MMI’s approach to guide people to better financial health goes beyond simple fixes, and instead, help every person they work with to improve their knowledge and develop the skills they need to overcome financial setbacks today and be prepared for tomorrow.”

The initiative, which launched February 4th, will run for 30 days. For more information, or to register for the program, visit the LifeCents website: community.lifecents.com.
