LifeCents Offers Free Access to Its Online Financial Wellness App for Individuals Affected by Government Shutdown

Washington D.C., February 5, 2019 – LifeCents, a financial wellness company, today announced the company is offering all federal workers, and those affected by the shutdown, free access to its online app for 30 days starting today. While consumers typically access LifeCents through an affiliate client or partner, such as an employer or financial services company, the company is making an exception for individuals affected by the shutdown in an effort to help consumers bounce back to financial stability.

Those that sign up for LifeCents this month will receive a free assessment of their financial health, a complimentary one-on-one financial coaching session and their personalized Financial Health Report, which will help them gain control of their finances. Users will also be able to access resources, a library of complimentary tools, and connections to partners and programs that can assist with their finances.

While the government shutdown has impacted the lives of Americans all over the country, it has also brought to light a bigger problem: the vast number of Americans living paycheck-to-paycheck. Currently, 78% of Americans live paycheck-to-paycheck and additionally 40% of Americans are unable to cover a $400 emergency.

“The government shutdown has really highlighted just how fragile finances are for many Americans,” said Blake Allison, Founder and CEO. “While the government has temporarily reopened, the underlying need to help people improve their financial health and achieve financial security remains.”

LifeCents is also offering users the option to share their story on how the shutdown has personally affected them. Participants who share their story will be entered to win a $500 Visa gift card to help cover necessities such as groceries, bills, or medication.

The initiative, which launched February 4th, will run for 30 days. For more information, or to register for the program, visit the LifeCents website: community.lifecents.com.
